This project in Irvine, CA has been one of our largest and longest to date, spanning a 38 foot barrel vaulted ceiling, the mural took eleven months to create from sketch to installation.
Inspired by Italian Fresco’s of the Renaissance age, Andrew Tedesco Studios Inc. worked directly with the client to create a masterpiece for the entrance hall of their home.
In order to bring the painting into the 14th century, once the individual sections were sketched and painted, they were ‘antiqued.’ A technique using white paint applied generously across the pained canvas to bring down the intensity of the colors and remove small sections of paint entirely. It is meant to look as if the painting has aged.
Due to the scale of this piece, it was created in sections that were then cut and combined on site at install.
Roman Mythological Love Stories are represented in the four corners of the room.
Diana and Endymion is the story of a shepherd who slept on the mountain top and Diana the moon goddess would visit each night as she crossed the skies.
Bacchus the wine god and Ariadne who helped to defeat the Minotaur. Bacchus fell in love at first site and promised her the entire sky.
Leda and the Swan:
Zues the most powerful god, in the form of a swan coming to seduce her. The portrait of Leda was a favorite of great artists like Leonardo and Michelangelo.
Cupid and Psyche:
Venus, Cupid’s mother was jealous of Psyche’s beauty and sent Cupid to deliver a message. On his way he scratched himself with his own arrow and fell immediately in love.
